What is EFT Tapping?
EFT Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques, is a healing modality that involves tapping on specific points in the body's meridian system. This technique aims to clear blockages that may cause physical and emotional ailments. It is believed that when energy flow is disrupted, it can result in disease or sickness. By tapping on the meridian points, the energy flow is rebalanced, allowing for the release of pain or distress.
History of EFT Tapping:
EFT Tapping was first developed by Gary Craig who is a Stanford engineering graduate, a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, and trained in other forms of Energy Psychology. Since its creation in the 1990s it has become increasingly popular due as a simplified version of Thought Field Therapy and has roots in Chinese
acupuncture which is based on the concept of the meridian system.
Gary Craig, believes that negative emotions are caused by energy disruptions in the body's energy system. EFT tapping aims to release these energy disruptions, thus providing relief from the associated negative emotions.
How EFT Tapping Works?
EFT Tapping works by stimulating the body's meridian points with gentle tapping. This tapping sends calming signals to the amygdala, the part of the brain that controls the fight-or-flight response. By reducing the activity in the amygdala, EFT can help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. It is a somatic intervention that reduces psychological distress by stimulating the meridian/acupoints on the face and upper body and allows the body to release stress and negative emotions, as well as calm the nervous system.
Understanding the EFT tapping points:
There are nine primary EFT tapping points, the points are:
a. Karate chop (tap side of hand): It is the setup statement in EFT
b. Top of Head: Signifies overall energy and spiritual connection

d. Side of Eye: Associated with anger and irrititability
e. Under Eye: Associated with fear and anxiety
f. Under Nose: Related to embarrassment and shame
