What is Astrology?

Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of the sun, moon, planets, and stars and their purported influence on human affairs and terrestrial events. Astrology has become very popular over the years, the key aspects of astrology include celestial observations, zodiac signs, birth charts, and planetary influences. Its origins trace back to ancient civilisations, it originated in Mesopotamia and spread to India and developed into its Western form in Greek civilisation during the Hellenistic period. What is a birth chart and how do you read it?

A birth chart uses the date, time and location of your birth to re-create a map of the sky. It is like a snapshot of where all the planets were in their orbit at the exact moment you were born. The key elements of a birth chart are the 12 zodiac signs, houses and planets, and the most talked about aspects of the birth chart are the Sun, Moon and Rising signs. Houses represent different aspects of your life and show how a sign and planet may manifest in your daily life. The planets are the most important element of the birth chart, every planet in our solar system has a place in a birth chart. Planetary placements play an important factor in your birth chart, it can give a lot of insight into how you process information, how you present yourself and what your motivations are. No one has the exact same planetary placements and every birth chart is different and tailored specifically to you. Your birth chart acts as a guide to give you insight into your strengths, weaknesses and personal qualities, click here to create your own personalised birth chart.

What are the benefits of attending an Astrology session?

Working with an Astrologer can lead to improved decision-making, it can provide guidance on making important life decisions related to your career, health and relationships, and it gives you a deeper understanding of yourself and how you can improve in the long run. It can also give you a better sense of understanding and clarity towards yourself and life situations and allows you to move forward with direction and different perspectives.

Studies have shown that people turn to Astrology as a tool when life becomes challenging and they need comfort and reassurance as it gives us a sense of control and understand our identity.

Astrology and personal growth:

Astrology can be a powerful tool for personal growth, it allows you to learn more about yourself and your personality and you can gain insightful knowledge for personal development. The Sun, Moon and Rising Signs play a large role in personal growth, your Sun sign represents your core and the traits that define who you are. The Moon sign represents your emotional world, covering how you process feelings and emotions, and the Rising Sign dives into how you present yourself to the world.

Common misconceptions about Astrology:

1. Astrology is about the sun signs

This is one of the most significant misunderstandings that society has about star signs and astrology in general. The complexities of planetary alignments, moon placements and rising signs contribute to an individually based cosmic blueprint that goes beyond the superficial categorization of sun signs.

Sun signs only represent a fraction of astrology, a comprehensive astrological chart is more significant as it takes into consideration all celestial bodies at the time of someone's birth.

2. Astrology determines your fate

Astrology is not like a crystal ball that predicts your fate, it more so serves as a tool for self-awareness, self-care and personal growth. By exploring your birth chart and personality traits, strengths and weaknesses, it allows you to gain insight into yourself as a whole.

Astrology does not dictate your destiny, the power lies in your hands on how you decide to shape your future based on the self-awareness that Astrology has given you.

3. Astrology predicts your future events

Astrology is a thematic guide for your life’s narrative, it is not a foretelling of occurrences, it is about understanding themes that may influence your experiences in your life. Astrological insights focus on broader patterns giving individuals the chance to interpret key themes. Astrology does not guess what happens to you in the future, it is supposed to be a guiding tool that encourages you to make good decisions and avoid issues that may arise.

4. Horoscopes are always accurate

Not all horoscopes are accurate, especially ones that are found on the last page of a magazine, they lack specificity and depth and provide very generalised predictions that may resonate with the particular audience they are targeting, which can often be teenage girls. A genuine astrological reading is tailored to you and gives you a personalised experience, each individual has a unique cosmic fingerprint and a comprehensive analysis takes into consideration the interplay of things such as planets.

5. Astrology is like a personality test

We know that your birth chart can give you a better understanding of your personality, however, it is not a personality test. It is a multifaceted tool that dives into many diverse areas of life including relationship compatibility, the timing of significant life events, career paths, financial outlook, and health matters. Astrology is a wholistic system that integrates many factors to give you insights into different aspects of your life and your future. Astrology reveals aspects of your character and personality traits but it can not be compared to a personality test.

How to prepare for an Astrology session and what to expect:

Booking a session with an astrologer will give you personalised insight into your life and future beyond general horoscope readings. When preparing for your session, it is important to come in with an open mind and to gather your birth information (date, time, place of birth). During the session, the astrologer will provide an introduction and explanation of the process and provide an overview of your chart.

An Astrology session can be done in-person or online, therefore it is important to come to the session with some ideas that you would like to discuss and to be open to sharing some of your life experiences.

How to choose an Astrologer:

When choosing an astrologer it's important to look at whether they have recognised astrological certifications, their educational background in related fields and how many years of experience they have practicing astrology. It can also be beneficial to look for an astrologer who specialises in a particular area, if that is what you are after, such as relationship astrology, financial astrology, and health astrology. Bodhi Holistic Hub provides a platform for a diverse range of qualified practitioners for different holistic practices who can help with various health and well-being concerns.

“We are born at a given moment, in a given place and, like vintage years of wine, we have the qualities of the year and of the season of which we are born. Astrology does not lay claim to anything more.”
