How many treatments will I need?

Every body is different. Depending on how long you have had the condition and how your body responds to the treatment will determine the results. However, it is advised to have 3 treatments one to two weeks apart for the best results as it allows the work you are doing on your body to set.

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a gentle non-intrusive modality which addresses the fascia in your body. Your fascia, also known as the connective tissue, is one continuous web which surrounds every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, blood vessel and tendon in your body. When your fascia becomes dehydrated (from numerous reasons) it adheres to what is beneath it causing restriction and pain. The moves performed throughout the Bowen Therapy treatment send a signal to the cells in your fascia to hydrate the area. This allows the fascia to move freely, enabling it to restore function, address pain and bring an overall sense of wellbeing.

What can I expect from Bowen Therapy treatment?

Upon arrival you will be asked to complete a Client Information form outlining your details and any medical history. Through consultation and assessment of your range of movement & posture, we will work on a personalised treatment plan. As you are directly involved in the outcome of your treatments. The treatment is done on a massage table typically, but it can also be adapted to a seated position or on your side (if pregnant). Your comfort is my priority. You will be asked to wear loose fitting clothing as the treatment is done through your clothes. The treatment itself is one tailored to you from what was gathered from your consult. It involves a sequence of moves over your body followed by 2 - 5 minute rests in between. These rests are important as it allows your body to adjust to the fascia realigning in your body. Throughout your treatment you may have sensations such as flickering, heat, tingling, pressure, light-headedness or you may not have any sensations at all. Just let me know when the feeling subsides and I will continue with the treatment. The treatment may also bring up an emotional release. Go with it. I will hold a safe space for you.
