What if I don't know what to say or I am shy about talking about my feelings when I visit a Holistic Counsellor?

It's understandable that you may feel nervous or unsure about what to say when you first visit a holistic counsellor. It's a new experience, and you may not be accustomed to talking about your feelings openly with someone you don't know, and that's ok. Here are a few tips that can help you prepare for your first appointment and feel more comfortable talking about your feelings: Write down your thoughts and feelings in advance: This can help you organize your thoughts and make it easier to express them during our time together. Be patient with yourself: It takes time to learn how to talk about your feelings. Remember, as your holistic counsellor I am here to be patient with you and to help you. I have been trained to listen to you, provide support, and not judge. The more you talk about your feelings, the easier it will become.

How do I know I am meditating correctly?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the experience of meditation is unique for everyone. As I guide you I will encourage you to bring awareness to these indicators as you progress: 1. You are able to focus your attention. This may be on your breath, a mantra, or simply on the present moment. It is normal for your mind to wander, but you should be able to gently bring it back to your focus point. 2. You are able to relax your body. This may involve letting go of tension in your muscles, slowing your breathing, and focusing on the sensations of your body. 3. You are able to observe your thoughts without judgment. This means that you are not getting caught up in your thoughts or trying to control them. You are simply observing them as they arise and pass away. 4. You feel a sense of calm and peace. This may be a feeling of serenity, tranquillity, or stillness. 5. You feel more connected to yourself and the world around you. This may be a feeling of presence, awareness, or oneness. The important thing is to be patient and kind with yourself as you learn to meditate. There is no right or wrong way to meditate, and what matters most is that you find a practice that works for you. With practice and as you learn to meditate correctly, you will feel and welcome all the benefits meditation will bring.

When I meditate, why can't I clear my mind?

Most people think and perceive meditation as a practice of sitting down and clearing or being able to clear your mind and if you can't clear your mind then you aren't doing it correctly. This is simply not true. Meditation is learning to focus your attention on the present moment, without judgment In my teaching, we start together and we start with small easy activities. If, and as you feel ready we gently progress to longer, deeper practices.
