What does the word Reiki mean?

The word “Reiki” can translate to “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.” It comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life force energy.

Reiki is a type of energy healing, our energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness. Through this energy healing therapy, there is a transfer or ‘transmission’ of energy from the practitioner to the client. The certified practitioner is a channel to assist with this transfer of energy. Energy medicine aims to increase the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. This increased flow of energy around the body can: •enable relaxation •relieve pain •increase healing •reduce other symptoms of illness •cleanse undigested emotions

Reiki is an energy healing practise rooted in traditional Japanese practises. It can be described as deeply therapeutic and restorative. In addition, it can have a profound effect on regulating the nervous system and cleansing undigested emotions. Reiki is universal life force energy.
