What can I expect during the first session?

Your initial session will be 1.5hr, which will flow as follows; 1. Interview: we will discuss why you are coming to see me and what your goals and your desired outcomes are from therapy. 2. Strategic Psychotherapy: we will work out together how you are currently doing your problem and maintaining it and how we can move you forward. 3. Hypnosis/NLP: I will either put you into a trance state for 20 minutes to amplify the strategic psychotherapy or work through some NLP techniques with you to resolve your issue. 4. Home: I will provide you with a recording of your hypnosis session to further integrate, and keep for times that might be challenging.

NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming originated from a study of the World’s most successful people. From that study a model was designed to help people improve the way they communicate, lead and influence. By using a three step process: Neuro - your nervous system; sight, sound, touch, taste, smell Linguistic - your internal dialogue Programming - your unconscious programming What NLP can do for you is aid you in understanding your internal conflicts and patterns and provide you with the tools to make change. In essence, we use NLP tools along side Clinical Hypnosis and Strategic Psychotherapy to get the most effective outcome for each client

What is Clinical Hypnosis and why do you use it?

Clinical Hypnosis is an extremely effective way to amplify the message we have uncovered by the Strategic Psychotherapy. It is said that while you are in a state of trance you are up to 10 times more likely to take on a message. Based on the modern Ericksonian style of hypnosis, a permissive style of hypnosis, Clinical Hypnosis is one where you are in control of the process and the outcome. We use hypnosis to connect the unconscious mind and the conscious mind, to connect emotion and logic. Trance is used as a therapeutic vehicle, as we are most effective when in a trance state and more willing to take on suggestions and new ideas whilst in this state.

What is Strategic Psychotherapy?

Strategic psychotherapy is a brief therapy using a directive approach that is solution oriented. Using this method, we hold the assumption that you have the ability to heal yourself, we just need to uncover the process of how you create and maintain your problem. Focussing on more than just creating self-awareness, we use a goal-oriented approach by using your own strengths and uncovering any gaps in your knowledge or skills and filling them. We lead you towards creating specific improvements in your problem area.

How many sessions do I need?

The number of sessions required depends on the issue at hand. My aim is to have a resolution in as few sessions as possible, roughly you can expect: - Anxiety, stress, burn out :3-6 sessions - Phobias, fears, simple trauma: 1-3 sessions - Smoking: 1-2 sessions
